More Than We Imagined

I remember the day before Thanksgiving 2020 like it was yesterday. And here we are now, an entire year passed with so much changed since our last holiday season. I'm grateful that last year's tiny bubble can expand to include my children and grandchildren this year.

And I'm grateful for so many relationships and opportunities to interact with people near and far. Because even with all that's changed, what remains constant is a deep longing for for human connection.

While the pandemic threw all kinds of challenges and grief our way, one gift it gave us is this ability to connect with people around the world virtually. We've proven that this really can be meaningful when we are intentional and willing to be vulnerable.

Case in point: The Human Workplace Team. I love this picture from one of our team meetings. It shows members in Houston, Bethesda, Los Angeles, Chicago, the PNW of Washington, Dublin, Ireland, and London, England.

We are interacting with Joanne's little one, which is a welcome new aspect of professionalism: We are real, full people, not tiny slices of ourselves.

It's notable that I only knew four of these folks before the pandemic and really not very well. But the pandemic and racial reckoning bound us together in our determination to bring love, well-being, equity, and humanity to workplaces everywhere.

You are part of this too!

One thing is clear: This is so much bigger than the pandemic, and it's so much bigger than you and me. The urgent need to strengthen loving human experiences goes well beyond my city, my state, my country, my continent, and beyond workplaces too. And it goes beyond this moment in time too.

It calls us all to connect to each other and to see that we are part of a larger Whole that's asking us to be present and discover new ways of being we never thought possible before. What a joy to be co-creating with this team and with you across the globe.

Happy Thanksgiving!

May you be healthy and well. May you find new ways to bring love to yourself, love to your family, love to your community, love to the world, and yes, love to your workplace too.
