Honoring Collaborators

Three caring and dare I say brave people stepped up in a special collaboration with me as a part of A Human Workplace to reach out to people as this pandemic began to unfold. Angie Burwell Kerr, Shannon Patterson, and Gregory Flynn are friends, colleagues, and believers in more human ways of working. Each of them have worked for years in people-centric, loving, connected ways, showing leaders and teams the results that are possible when we truly honor human dignity and prize relationships. They have their own bodies of work and their own thought/heart-leadership. And they wanted to join together to do something meaningful for people in this crucial human moment.

They said “Yes” in early March to joining me in hosting the first virtual Human Workplace Gatherings. They shared insights, offered feedback, tweaked our approach, and helped me train the new Host-Consultants who’ve joined us. “Working Alone Together” participants and our new Host-Consultants have benefitted from their compassion, authenticity, skill, and wisdom. I am so grateful to them and want you to know more about them and check out their work.

Angie Burwell Kerr leads Burwell Ventures where she works with clients using her signature Awakening Change® methodology that starts with just what Angie embodies, “being human, being courageous, and being patient.” She lives these principles so that when she works with leaders and teams, it isn’t just from theory and headspace, it is from her heart and life. This is why people say that conversations are different when Angie is in the room and why I’m truly grateful for Angie’s friendship and collaboration to bring “Working Alone Together” to life.

Shannon Patterson and Gregory Flynn co-lead Connection Works, which as they say, “…is more than a name. It’s an observation.” They are so right! They are dedicated to “partnering with those who want their workplaces and work practices to be life-giving” and “stopping work practices that diminish & disregard people’s humanity.” When Shannon and Greg are engaged, sights are higher and capacity is increased for “our individual & collective humanity to create a more life-giving world for all.” This isn’t just their business practice; this is their way of being. And I am a better human for collaborating with Shannon and Greg.

When the story of A Human Workplace is written, an entire chapter will be dedicated to Angie, Shannon and Greg’s generous collaboration. And more people will be reached around the world now because of it!
