Well-Being

Why focus on Resilience and Well-Being?

A shared commitment to resilience and wellness fosters a more loving and effective way of working that produces results and is good for people, families, and communities.

We’ve worked with numerous teams in social and human services, education, healthcare, government, and non-profits dedicated to serving those in need. Their work is important and meaningful but it also takes a toll on those doing this work.

Workers on these teams are often overwhelmed, understaffed, administratively burdened, and emotionally challenged by what they see with little relief.

And they struggle because…

  • Their strong caregiver identity can make it difficult to set boundaries.

  • They may feel guilty about taking time to care for their own needs.

  • The work can be isolating and stress levels high.

  • The emotional burden is often normalized as an expectation.

But this stressful mix is a surefire recipe for burnout, health problems, and high turnover. And this is no way to ensure sustainable service.

Self-care is important but self-care alone is inadequate. After all, it’s not enough to tell someone to find a way against all odds to meditate or breathe their way out of the stress and emotional burden.

Our work with direct service teams proves there is a better way to support those who serve others.

and Collaborative Well-Being.

    Resilience and Well-Being Masterclass

Set the foundation to improve resilience and wellness and avoid burnout on your team without relying on individual self-care alone. In this interactive class, you will learn the neuroscience of stress, seven practices for moving through stress to well-being, and four practices for cultivating resilience. Make a personal plan as well as identify collective practices to cultivate a supportive team environment and promote sustainable team dynamics. Take a self-assessment, experience tools and methods in real-time, and assess their impact on well-being.

  • Collaborative Well-Being Circles

These self-organizing groups bring the program to life and their efficacy is supported by the results of our study of this resilience program. We provide materials and guidance for self-lead Collaborative Care Circles of 3-6 team members who voluntarily participate. Circles can be held weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Topics support health and wellness practices in the context of a supportive circle of colleagues to overcome grief, emotional struggles, and stress. Effective to pair circles with the skills training series.

  • Quarterly Well-Being Culture Gatherings Held In Person or Virtually

A Gathering is not a meeting, not a training, and not a workshop but is an experiential and relational space to discover and practice together how to create a loving, collaborative well-being culture in real-time. Build culture, commitment, and confidence as a work community for a new way of working with care for each other embedded in your everyday ways of working.

“Fantastic session on self-restoration and connection with The Care Collaboratory! Critical during these times of uncertainty. Thank you for facilitating the most intimate Zoom session I’ve ever attended. This was exactly what I didn’t know I needed.”
