Jen’s Story
Jen lives in Lake Orion, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, with her daughter where they enjoy a circle of friends and family on their lake. Jen began a journey of seeking purpose that led her to start a women’s mission in Africa, adopt her daughter, and birth a more holistic approach to coaching and development. Jen’s perspective on family radically changed when both of her parents passed away within two years of each other. After dealing with this loss, she got certified as Grief Educator Coach and reframed her definition of family to include a community that brings her love, support, and a deep sense of belonging. She says, “family doesn’t have to be biological, instead it's the people you are connected to at the soul level”. Jen is the author of two books. The first, “Daily Nuggets of Truth: Wisdom for Centering Your Soul in Unsettling Times” is 30 days of short powerful centering practices. The second book, “For the Love of Jude”, she wrote with her daughter for children to learn about unconditional love and to memorialize Jen’s mom.

Jen is a unique and wonderful mix of deeply thoughtful and terribly fun. She is always ready to dig into important conversations, big feelings, and self-reflection. She is fascinated by tracking, observing, and seeing the unseen, like patterns of behavior or deeply held beliefs. But just as readily she is also prepared to pull out her best chips and dip or favorite wine (Chardonnay in the summer and Cab in the winter) and spend the day knees deep in the lake with plenty of laughs and party atmosphere. Jen is a self-proclaimed ‘water-fanatic’. Her perfect day would likely include boating, swimming, laying on the water, and bonfires with her daughter and friends. Her daughter’s nickname is Joyball for the constant energy, life, smiles, and jokes that she pours out. Jen is incredibly connected with her church and through this connection started a women’s mission in Africa that focuses on supporting women and girls through education, business skills, and health and wellness. When asked about her favorite place that she’s ever visited, Jen responds immediately with Kenya, which is where her daughter was born and named after. She calls out the grateful, joyous hearts of the Kenyan people, their beautiful communal culture, and their innate, yet intricate tie to nature as aspects of these people and this place that spurs her love and admiration for Kenya.
